My formal introduction to art was attending Fine Arts at John Abbott. The thing I love about painting is exploring new mediums and methods.

I began painting with oils and acrylics, then switched to watercolour. I found out that although watercolour painting requires a lot of practice and patience it is very gratifying when one succeeds. Taking courses allowed me to meet other teachers and artists and to discuss other mediums, which led me back to acrylics.

Now I work mostly from photographs, I particularly enjoy painting cityscapes, but recently have been able to paint portraits of my children and grand-children in natural settings. They are a lot of fun to do and are really appreciated by them.

Lately I have been experimenting with alcohol inks, I’ve still got a lot to learn but am enjoying something new. It is a departure from traditional painting but rewarding in its own way.
